This year's installment of BAUMA, the world's leading trade fair for
the construction industry and its suppliers, broke all of its previous
records. The fair is held every three years on Munich's fairgrounds.
This year's installment was staged during April 2 - April 8, 2001.
More than 390,000 persons attended the fair. 1998's total: 380,000.
These persons were from 152 countries (1998: 131) and visited the
stands set up by 2,341 exhibitors (1998: 1,993) from 42 countries
(1998: 37 countries). The stands occupied a total of 445,000 square
meters of space.
These records notwithstanding, the fair featured a free flow of
traffic to and in the exhibitor halls, report surveys of exhibitors
and visitors.
As was the case in 1998, the fair's focus was on presenting ICT-based
(information and communication technologies) products and services
increasing the operating efficiency, ease of performance and environmental
compatibility of the construction industry. Many of the products
featured melds of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic-based systems.
