Record number of tourists in Munich

(9.9.2005) Munich is on course to set a slew of new tourism records in 2005. That's what the statistics for the year's first six months are indicating. The number of tourist overnight stays were up 7% for the period.
Accounting for the rises were the ongoing influxes from central and eastern Europe and Asia. The numbers of Czech, Chinese and South Korean tourists increased 35%, 23% and 23% respectively over 2004's first six months.
One of the year's big draws has proven to be BUGA. Germany's National Garden Festival is being held until October 9th in Munich's Messestadt Riem district.
