A new residential quarter is rising in MS Riem. Located to the
southwest of the community's central mall, itself now under construction,
the quarter will be comprised of 330 housing units, a daycare center,
a meeting place for senior citizens and other facilities. Now under
construction, the quarter is set to be completed by the end of 2003.
Being developed by Terrrafinanz and GBWAG, the buildings housing
160 of the quarter's apartments will be planned by a consortium
comprised of the Weber/Reiner/Fischer/Steiger firm of architects.
Along with the architect Andreas Merck, this firm was the winner
of a recent competition.
Merck, in turn, will be responsible for designing the complex owned
by the Aicher group and holding 170 rent-subsidized housing units.
The quarter will have an especially attractive location. It will
adjoin the community's park, which forms a main part of the greenery
covering half of the community's surface.
