Messestadt Riem's Square of Human Rights commissioned

(June 16, 2005) Messestadt Riem's central "Square of Human Rights" was commissioned today by Christian Ude, Munich's mayor, and a large number of activist groups. The mayor signed, in the name of his city, the Charta of Human Rights, which has been endorsed by more than 200 cities.

The square is located in the heart of Messestadt Riem. Planned by Christoph and Donata Valentien, the square features a copse of fur trees. Centerpiece of the square is the "Table". Created by Hörbelt & Winter, the table (which could be used as such) has the articles of the charta engraved on its surface.
