(June 5, 2002) Germany's Federal Garden Exhibition gets a people
mover.
An opportunity to see the stunning beautiful arrays of flowers
and other flora from a bird's eye perspective.
That's what will be available to visitors to Germany's Federal
Garden Exhibition, to be held in MS Riem in 2005.
The Exhibition will feature a people mover transporting up to 2,200
visitors an hour on a 25 meters-high tour of the exhibition's surface.
While the cable car makes its way around the triangular, 3 kilometer-long
course, the visitors will also enjoy another beautiful view: that
of the Alps, which rise to the south of Munich.
A number of the people mover's cars will be configured for use
by the handicapped.
The people mover is being set up and will be operated by Doppelmayr,
a leading manufacturer of such systems.
Bundesgartenschau München GmbH (BUGA), the company responsible
for organizing the exhibition, will lay out the walkways providing
access to the people mover. BUGA will also construct the pylons
supporting the people mover.
"We are convinced that the people mover will enhance the-already
strong-interest in our exhibition," state Andrea Gebhard and
Hanspeter Fass, BUGA's managing directors.
