(January 23, 2004) A resolution just passed by Munich's municipal council authorizes the launching of the planning of "Freight Distribution Center East".

To house freight forwarders and delivery services, the new facility will adjoin the ro-ro station in Munich's eastern district of Riem. This link-up will make rail the prime carrier of delivery for the new facility.

The grouping of freight forwarders in one facility will minimize transfer times and costs. It will also benefit the environment and reduce traffic on area highways.
