(September 2, 2003) Devastating floods are occurring more and more often, as are hurricanes, typhoons and other weather-caused natural disasters. This increasing incidence is boosting the world's interest in systems capable of precluding and palliating these dread events.

Along with the component parts and services, such systems will be showcased at acqua alta, the trade fair being launched at Munich's trade fair center on November 24 -27, 2003.

The trade fair's exhibitors and congresses (to be held in the adjoining ICM facility) fall into four categories:

• climate - ongoing changes, the consequences thereof and strategies to deal with them
  
• river maintenance via dredging, dike-building and renaturation
• flood prevention and palliation
  
• natural disasters-prediction, warning and assistance systems
